What Can I Sell On eBay?
By far the most popular question I hear from entrepreneurs stating to sell on eBay is “what do I sell?” That is a question that if you can properly answer, you’ll have success on eBay. What’s my answer? I’ll tell you in a minute. First, I need to explain why it’s so easy to get stuck here. (Don’t worry, I’ve been there too.)
I believe it’s because eBay is such a product-focused business. You buy product at a discount, you sell product at a profit. Buy low, sell high. Simple model, right? You’re probably saying, “yeah, I know that,” but hear me out.
Someone who gets stuck here is the same type of person who might get stuck figuring out which stock to buy in the stock market. It’s the same model, right? Buy a stock low, sell it high. Buy inventory low, sell it for more on eBay.
Think about what a successful stock trader does. They first of all know what to look for. They look at the market. They check the price. They figure out if they’ll be able to sell it for more in the future. Then they make the call.
Successful traders will tell you it’s not so much one particular stock that they look for, but they look for certain qualities through many stocks. They train themselves to look for these qualities, and then filter through the many options to find the winners. You need to do the same thing when looking for eBay products. Learn the criteria, train yourself to be able to recognize it.
So what’s the key ingredient to find product to sell on eBay? It’s all about having the proper mindset. By training yourself to see opportunities, you’ll be prepared for them when they arrive. There are literally products all around you to sell on eBay. It’s just getting yourself in the proper business mindset to see the opportunities, and training yourself to be able to recognize a winner when you see one. We call this “the Seller’s Mindset” which means you’re always looking for things to sell on eBay.
But I haven’t completely answered the original question: “What do I sell on eBay?”
Let’s say you have very little eBay experience right now. If you don’t know what to sell, don’t stress. What you can do is get up and running first. Take a look around your house and see if there is any stuff you don’t need. Check your attic, basement, and closets. Instead of having a yard sale, see if you can sell it on eBay. As soon as you get selling, you’ll gain experience and start to build your feedback ratings. Then, you can learn to cultivate that “seller’s mindset.
